With Christmas right around the corner, now is the time we like to look back and reflect on our business over the past year and craft a vision for the year ahead. This year at Newton Peach Marketing was filled with surprises, challenges, and new opportunities, and we learned many different lessons along the way. In this blog, we wanted to share with you the reflections we made from this past year, as well as how we are going to craft a vision board for our business in the upcoming new year!

Another of our goals in 2025 is to help out our clients more in vendor fairs. As many of our clients participate in local markets and vendor fairs, we want to make these events as successful as possible for them. We plan to do this by creating content to promote the vendor fairs and designing marketing materials that clients can set up in their booths. Vendor fairs are a great way for small businesses to connect with our community, and we want to make sure our clients get the most out of these opportunities!

St. Patrick's Day: The Backstory

St. Patrick's Day, or The Feast of St. Patrick, is a well-known holiday, known for fun (and sometimes crazy) parties all over the United States. St. Patricks' Day is when people, specifically those of Irish descent, recognize and remember St. Patrick, a historical figure of religious significance in Ireland. The day was traditionally celebrated as a feast day by those of the Catholic, Anglican, Orthodox and Lutheran churches.

Who Was Saint Patrick?

It is thought that St. Patrick was born a Roman Britain to a wealthy family in the fourth century. He was kidnapped by Irish raiders at age 16 and sold as a slave. He served as a shepherd in Gaelic Ireland for 6 years, and during that time, it is historically said that he "found God". According to the story, God told him to flee to the coast where a ship would be waiting to take him home. Once he made his way home, Patrick became a priest, and later returned to Ireland to convert the pagan society to Christianity. During his ministry, he converted thousands, and tradition holds that he passed away on March 17th.

Why All the Shamrocks?

According to the historical tales, St. Patrick used clover, a three-leaf plant, to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

NPM: Trying to Be The da Vinci of Your Social Media Needs

The Italian genius Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) had an extraordinary mind that canvassed a multitude of disciplines. Walter Isaacson, in his New York Times best seller about his life, wrote about his vast accomplishments in mathematics, art, engineering, anatomy, and zoology (to name a few). One thing that made da Vinci such a great artesian was his attention to detail. It is this fact about da Vinci that we at NPM find commonality.

One great example of da Vinci’s attention to detail was found in his painting “Virgin of the Rocks”  (pictured above). Leonardo chose to use volcanic rock and sandstone which he was familiar with because of his studies of geology. While his artist rendition of these formations are impressive, what demonstrates his attention to detail is that he paints climate and geologically appropriate plants in his painting. As Isaacson wrote, “The plants in the picture are located, as they would be in nature, only in the sandstone regions that have weathered sufficiently to permit roots to take hold, both at the top and the floor of the grotto, but not in the hard igneous rocks. The species chosen are botanically and seasonally correct: he depicted only those that would be found in a moist grotto at the same time of year.” Leonardo’s attention to detail is as impressive today as it was 500 years ago.

Valentine's Day is all about showing those around you how much you care. Giving gifts, acts of service, or a simple "I love you" to remind someone that they are important to you are all ways we share the love around this holiday. Have you thought about showing your favorite local businesses just how much you appreciate them, and care about their success in the community though? They might not be your first thought when Valentine's Day rolls around, but there are many ways you can show them some love and help boost their presence in the community not just on holidays, and EVERY day.

Give them positive reviews. It's easy (and common) to leave a negative review. When we receive goods or services that are less than satisfactory, we want a sense of justice, and often, leaving a scathing review makes us feel somehow validated in our displeasure...and we totally understand that! New Year, New Plan: Top 3 Resolutions for Marketing YOUR Business in 2019

We are officially through the first week of 2019, and with a new year come new resolutions for a better “us." Health and wellness goals, a better self-care regimen, or even something as simple as finally tackling that unorganized closet in your bedroom of stuck on Post-Its, written in planners, or otherwise noted to remind you of what you’d like to accomplish throughout this coming year. As a business owner though, have you thought about how those resolutions could pertain to your company? 

Having specific goals and annual aspirations for your business are a huge part of not only keeping vision within your staff, but are also key to growing your business in the long term. We’ve all heard the saying “if your business isn’t growing, it’s dying”, which is why setting quantifiable and attainable goals for your business is a great way to kick off each new year. 

Not sure where to start? How about these: 

1.    Improve your marketing strategy. Perhaps you’re doing absolutely nothing to market your business currently, or maybe you have a budget that allows for multiple marketing platforms, but whatever you are (or aren’t) doing, we can guarantee there’s a way for you to improve upon it. 3.    Implement a customer feedback policy. No one knows how to improve your business, or how to encourage you with what you’re doing right, than your own customers. Implementing a customer feedback policy this year will give you valuable insight to what customers are happy with, what they’d like more of, and which things weren’t their favorite. Feedback can be done by way of reviews through pages such as Facebook or Google Business, they can be done through email newsletters, through your website, or even in person with a pen and paper system if you prefer. Just giving your customers the opportunity to give their opinion on the products and services you offer makes them feel like they matter, and that will keep them coming back for more.
